Project Background

In this residential project, the challenge went beyond furniture selection or aesthetic enhancements. The core objective was to restructure the spatial layout of the ground floor of a family villa to create a refined reception area in a Modern Luxury style. The client sought an elegant yet highly functional space capable of hosting large gatherings comfortably, while maintaining privacy and a refined atmosphere. Revie was entrusted with the full scope of design, execution, and furnishing, transforming the ground floor into a cohesive and welcoming reception experience.

Before: The Challenge

Despite the generous footprint of the ground floor, several architectural constraints limited its usability and visual flow:

Complex Architectural Layout

A structural column positioned at the center of the main hall disrupted circulation and visual continuity.

Disruptive Core Elements

The elevator shaft created a visual obstruction and resulted in wasted, underutilized space.

Multiple Entrances and Doors

The abundance of doors made it difficult to accommodate a dining table suitable for 12 guests in a comfortable and fluid layout.

Limited Seating Capacity

Due to perceived spatial constraints, the client initially believed only one majlis could be accommodated, despite the need to host larger groups.

Design & Execution Journey

Rather than treating these architectural constraints as limitations, our design team focused on transforming challenges into functional and aesthetic assets. The process began with a complete reassessment of spatial circulation, entry sequences, and guest flow. This allowed us to develop a layout that maximized both functionality and visual harmony without compromising comfort or elegance.

Transforming the Structural Column Instead of concealing the column, it was reimagined as a luxurious abaya storage unit integrated with a mirrored entry feature—becoming a functional and welcoming design element. Reworking the Elevator Shaft A custom-designed, floor-to-ceiling wooden display library was introduced to fully envelop the elevator core. This transformed it into a warm, refined decorative backdrop that enhanced the overall ambiance of the space. Reconfiguring Access Points A traditional hinged door was replaced with a custom sliding door, finished in the same wood used for the library. This strategic move freed up space and enabled the seamless placement of a dining table accommodating 12 guests. Maximizing Spatial Potential Through thoughtful reconfiguration, an additional reception seating area was created alongside the main women’s majlis—effectively doubling the villa’s hosting capacity and elevating its functional value.

Reconfiguring the spatial layout was the key to this project, as we transformed architectural challenges into design solutions that add real value to the space.

The Final Result

The ground floor evolved from a fragmented layout constrained by columns and doorways into a fully integrated reception space defined by elegance, functionality, and privacy. The redesigned area now comfortably accommodates large gatherings, offers a dedicated women’s majlis, and features a spacious dining zone—significantly enhancing both the visual appeal and usability of the villa.
